April Absurdity: Day 1 Results

#16 Massachusetts at #1 Florida:
Florida, 26-8

The Gators led all game, and the result was never in doubt. #1 Florida pulls out the obvious victory over I-AA #16 Massachusetts.

Florida:
Chris Leak: 21-29-236, 2 TD
Dallas Baker, WR: 5-47, TD
Earl Everett, OLB: 3 TKL, TFL, SK

Massachusetts:
QB #10: 5-11-56, 2 INT
HB #5: 10-44 (FB #14: 3-3, TD)
FS #6: 5 TKL, TFL, SK, FF

#9 Washington at #8 Kansas State:
Kansas State, 20-13 (OT)

Kansas State led early, but U-Dub tied it up at the beginning of the fourth quarter. The Huskies went deep with 20 seconds left, but the Wildcats picked it off to send it to OT. A 3 yard run by fullback Rimmon McNeese occured on the K-State possession, but Isaiah Stanback was sacked on third down and then scrambled unsuccessfully on fourth down to give #8 Kansas State the win over #9 Washington. Damn. Well, now you know this thing isn't rigged (I'm a U-Dub and Michigan fan).

Kansas State:
Allan Evridge: 19-33-169, TD, 2 INT
Thomas Clayton, HB: 13-103
Maurice Mack, OLB: 5 TKL, 2 TFL, 2 SK, INT, FF

Washington:
Isaiah Stanback: 13-28-113, TD, 2 INT
Mark Palaita, FB: 2-9 rec, 1 TD, 1-1 rush
Roy Lewis, CB: 6 TKL, INT, FF

#12 North Carolina at #5 Missouri
North Carolina, 28-21

North Carolina led early after a 68 yard touchdown pass. Missouri pulled one back with a 9 yard TD at the end of the first to tie things up at 7. But the Tarheels then scored two unanswered touchdowns followed by picking off a Missouri pass in the endzone to give UNC a 21-7 lead and the ball. Then a 72 yard touchdown pass gave North Carolina a commanding lead which they would not give up as the 12th seeded Tarheels gave us the first upset of April Absurdity over 5th seeded Missouri, 28-21.

Missouri:
Chase Daniel: 18-24-278, 3 TD, INT
William Franklin, WR: 4-114, 2 TD
Dedrick Harrington, MLB: 4 TKL, 4 TFL, SK

North Carolina:
Joe Dailey: 12-18-290, 4 TD
Brooks Foster, WR: 4-193, 2 TD
Brian Rackley, DE: 5 TKL, 4 TFL, 4 SK

#13 Air Force at #4 Nebraska
Nebraska, 35-9

Nebraska led early on a 53 yard touchdown pass from Zac Taylor to Marlon Lucky and never looked back, as Lucky was a part of all 5 Nebraska touchdowns in this game - he ran for 3 and caught two TD passes. Taylor was injured in the second quarter, but Harrison Beck came in and filled in nicely as 4th seeded Nebraska easily accounted for 13th seeded Air Force.

Nebraska:
Harrison Beck: 16-22-194, TD
Marlon Lucky, HB: 21-150, 3 TD, 4-101 rec, 2 TD
Jay Moore, DE: 7 TKL, 2 TFL, SK

Air Force:
Sean Carney: 2-6-58, INT (inj)
Justin Handley, HB: 26-154
John Rabold, MLB: 8 TKL, TFL
